WA Driving Directions: INPHC
Paint Horse Show / NWSSA Auction
& Futurities
- Are
there other futurities available
for my baby at the same show?
Yes! It’s a great futurity
show! In addition to the NWSSA
futurities, there are also
PNPHC futurities, Northwest
Breeders Futurities. Check
out the Futurities
- Who
is eligible for the yearling
longeline futurity?
All APHA registered babies
– colored or solid,
sired by eligible stallions
from the 2008, 2009, 2010
& 2011 auctions are eligible
for the yearling
longeline futurity. You
don’t need to have purchased
a breeding at the auction
to show in this – any
APHA baby sired by any stallion
on the list can! Click here
to find the current
list of stallions.
- Are
all babies by a certain stallion
eligible for the futurities?
No, this is a closed futurity.
That means in order to compete
in the weanling portion of
the futurities you must either
purchase the breeding at the
auction (or from someone else
who did) or be the stallion
owner and have your stallion
in the auction.
- Can
I show a baby at the futurity
even if I didn’t buy
the breeding at the auction?
Yes and No. Not in the NWSSA
weanling futurities. You must
purchase a breeding at the
auction (or from someone who
did purchase it at the auction)
to compete in the weanling
futurities. All yearlings
are eligible for the yearling
longeline if they are
sired by a stallion who was
in one (or more) of the last
four years auctions.
Plus there are the NW
Breeders Futurity, PNPHC
Futurity and WA
Bred Futurity, please
contact each of these programs
to find out specifics.
- You
talk about corresponding years
auctions, what do you mean?
Each futurity is on a three
year cycle. Example: You purchase
a breeding at the 2011 auction,
breed your mare in 2012, she
foals in 2013 and you show
that baby in the 2013 weanling
futurities. In 2014 your baby
is eligible for the yearling
longeline. In addition, all
2013 foals sired by eligible
stallions who were in the
2011 auction will be eligible
for the 2013 yearling longeline
futurities - not just those
produced by breedings bought
at the 2011 auction.
- Can
I make a Phone in bid on a
futurity breeding?
Yes, phone bids are accepted.
Visa & MasterCard accepted
for these bids, check out
the streaming auction page
for phone numbers.
- Do
I have to pay for the breeding
the night of the auction?
There are three payment options:
You can pay for half of the
breeding the night of the
auction with the second half
due by the 15th of November.
You can use money won at the
NWSSA futurities that weekend
to pay for at least 50% and
up to the full amount of the
purchase. And of course, you
can always pay in full the
night of the auction. We are
now able to accept Visa
or MasterCard, 3% fee!!!
- What
if I win money in that day’s
futurities? Congratulations!
If you win money in the NWSSA
futurities you may apply those
to any breeding you purchase
the night before. We’re
sorry but we cannot use money
won in other futurities at
the show as a breeding payment.
- How
are the proceeds of the auction
split - 2009/2011? $1000
off the top to Longline Futurities,
60% of the proceeds of the
auction are paid out to the
corresponding foals in the
mare owners division, 20%
of the proceeds of the auction
are paid out to the corresponding
foals in the stallion owners
division, 20% of the proceeds
goes to NWSSA operations.
- When
will the winning payments
be mailed? Winning
futurity payments will be
mailed within one week following
the futurities, if your file
is complete. If foal was shown
on a Work Order number the
money is held until copy of
registration papers have been
received.
- Can
I read the complete rules?
Sure you can see them under
each years directory. Please
make sure to refer to the
year you purchased the breeding.
They can also be found in
the front of every catalog.
- What
is a mare owner’s entry?
By definition the mare owner
is the person who purchases
the breeding at the auction.
The mare owner’s entry
is the foal that results from
the breeding purchased by
the stallion whose service
is sold and out of the mare
who was nominated by July
31st, prior to foaling season.
The mare owners foals compete
in 2011 for 60% of the total
income from that corresponding
auction.
- When
are mare nominations due?
Mare nominations are due July
31st of the year that you
breed your mare prior to her
foaling the following spring.
You can download a mare nomination
form on the nomination
page or find one in the
back of any NWSSA catalog.
- When
are mare owner entries due?

the classes split by age?
No, the classes are not split
by age.
- How
do I get a stall for my mare
owners entry baby?
You need to go through the
INPHC show to get stalls.
You can download a premium
from the INPHC
Website.
- Why
can’t my baby be with
the stallion owners in the
stallion barn? We
will try and accomidate if
at all possible. But please
coordinate with INPHC on your
stall reservations.
- What
happens if I can’t get
my mare bred? If
you can’t get your mare
bred after making an honest
effort you need to request
a roll over prior to the mare
nomination deadline (July
31st of each year).
- How
do I request a roll over?
To request a roll over you
must call and send a letter
to the NWSSA Secretary requesting
a roll over and the reason
why you need the roll over.
The letter should include
name, address, phone number
and email (if available) of
the mare owner, the mares
name and the stallions name.
Include a signed and dated
vets certificate stating that
the mare is open.
- Can
I sell my breeding?
Absolutely! If you choose
to sell your breeding just
send a signed and dated letter
to the NWSSA Secretary stating
that you’ve sold the
breeding (stallion name) to
(new mare owners name) and
include the new persons complete
name, address, phone number
and email address. In the
letter you need to indicate
that in selling the breeding
you release all future futurity
rights to resulting foal.
- I
sold my futurity baby now
what? Basically the
same as if you sold the breeding
(above). Make sure that you
include the new owners name,
address, phone number and
email address and release
all futurity rights to the
foal.
- I
want to put my stallion in
the auction? Great!
You will find downloadable
stallion contracts on the
application
page. We try to finalize
the stallion lineup in February.
The deadline to submit applications
is February 1st, 2011 so don't
wait! Please download a contract
and get all the information
to the NWSSA Secretary.
Applications available on
November 1, 2010.
- What
is a stallion owner’s
entry? Each stallion
owner may enter one foal in
the stallion owners division
each year. The stallion owner
may choose from any registered
foal, born in the relevant
year, irregardless of current
ownership or breeder. Beginning
with the 2004 Auction the
stallion owners division is
open to all APHA registered
foals, both regular registry
& breeding stock registry.
The Stallion Owner foals compete
for 20% of the total income
from the corresponding auction.
- Can
I show a solid foal in stallion
owners? Yes, Beginning
with stallion services sold
at the 2004 auction, for foals
competing in the corresponding
2006 Futurities, stallion
owners will be able to show
either an APHA regular registry
or APHA breeding stock registry
foal in the stallion owners
Futurities..
- How
do I get a stall for my stallion
/ stallion representative?
You can download a stall form
on the INPHC
Website if you did not
receive a Show Premium.
- As
a stallion owner can I have
more than two stalls?
We are almost always able
to accommodate those who want
more stalls but we never know
for sure until right before
the show. If you want more
stalls indicate that on the
stall form and send it in
to the INPHC
Stall Reservations, with the
proper payment. If we are
not able to accommodate you
with the number of stalls
that you request in the stallion
barn we will have to transfer
some of them to the show barns,
but YOU WILL HAVE STALLS somewhere.
- Why
haven’t I heard back
from the NWSSA Secretary?
If you haven’t heard
back from the NWSSA secretary,
I'm more than likely out of
town. But when out of town
I will try and remember to
put a message of when I will
return. Also if for some odd
reason I do not receive your
email please try calling,
normally I'm available after
6:00 pm. If you can’t
find the answer to your question
on the FAQ’s list or
the form you need on the website.
Please email or call Leila
Styer, (509)
635-1430 or any one of the
Committee Members.
